Dale Harder, handyman extraordinaire and world traveler!
We are proud to present Dale Harder as the Volunteer Spotlight for the month of April, Harder is a handyman extraordinaire here at GCHope. When he isn’t volunteering, Harder loves traveling with his best friend – his wife, Judy, – and their kids.
Giving Children Hope is extremely blessed to have such amazing and supportive volunteers who help us to accomplish our mission each and every day. One such volunteer is Dale Harder who has been serving alongside us for the past 5 years. He originally started coming with Thrivent to pack backpacks for We’ve Got Your Back, but since retiring, he has expanded his assistance by helping to make various repairs around our facility. Dale has offered his skills on a multitude of projects including but not limited to patching and replacing drywall, replacing lights and tiles, and painting, along with wet patching the roof before a rainstorm and building a volunteer center for the warehouse.
Dale’s generosity is seen every day he is here. He always comes to GCHope with a big smile on his face, and is extremely friendly and ready to work. He says that he volunteers because the work is rewarding, the cause is great, and he loves the staff; there is also a direct connection to people in need, with not only people in faraway places receiving help, but locally as well.
Since Dale is retired, he can technically do anything he wants with his time. So aside from volunteering, he keeps himself busy gardening, working as a handyman, traveling, and spending time with his best friend—his wife, Judy—and their kids. He feels very fortunate having had the opportunity thus far to lead an event-filled life that has included a diverse set of experiences, ranging from learning new languages, hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim with his son, and visiting El Salvador, Romania, and Vietnam with Habitat for Humanity.
We are so grateful to Dale for all of the time, hard work, and care that he has chosen to dedicate to GCHope. We cannot say thank you enough.
